The King of Pop Michael Jackson is no more. June 25th 2009, the world lost a gem, the King of Pop.
I grew up to his music, was a tiny tot when MJ had already created ripples in the music world. I remember watching his videos eagerly every time they aired it on Doordarshan. I remember dad taping these videos onto his VCR . I remember we bunch of building friends could not make it to his concert in Mumbai, so just to get a glimpse of the light show we went to the building terrace from where we could see the concert stadium.
R.I.P Michael Jackson, no matter what you will always live in our hearts.

Well there is a new Aircel store opened way back to my house, so out of curiosity I got myself a card (Rs 99, life time prepaid).
Some colleagues at work have got a post-paid and a pre-paid connection respectively so I knew the current condition of the network, I got this card albeit knowing this because the other ingredient that I mentioned earlier was stronger.
Now the horror starts.
I have a Sony Ericsson cell the W910i at my office the connection does not work at all, which would not be much of news to all but when it comes to peculiarity I will win hands down , atleast here.

BARCELONA/MUMBAI (Reuters) – Vodafone Group Plc has won the battle for a controlling stake in Hutchison Essar, India’s No. 4 mobile operator, with a bid that values it at around $19 billion including debt, a source and India’s Essar group said on Sunday.
A source close to the matter told Reuters that Vodafone had trumped India’s Reliance Communications and Hinduja group, as well as Essar itself, in the race for the 67 percent stake being sold by Hong Kong-based Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd..
The deal will give the British group, the world’s biggest mobile operator in terms of subscribers outside of China, the opportunity to bring its brand into the world’s fastest-growing and second-biggest mobile market.
The Essar Group, which owns 33 percent of Hutch Essar and had also been bidding, said it was evaluating a proposal from Vodafone to stay on as its partner.

Arfa Karim Randhawa, aged 10, has become the youngest person to be certified as a Microsoft engineer.
Randhawa passed her Microsoft Certified Professional examinations last year. She met Bill Gates this week and was taken on a tour of Microsoft’s Redmond campus.

The 10 year-old, from Faisalabad in Pakistan, asked Gates why children were not allowed to work for Microsoft and was told that they should concentrate on their school studies.
But he explained that Microsoft has an intern programme which would be available to her once she reached high school level.
Randhawa also asked why there are so few women in the company, suggesting that Microsoft should have an equal number of men and women.

>b>Sweden has outlawed the downloading of copyrighted movies, games and music in an attempt to curb rampant piracy.
About 10% of Swedes freely swap music, games and films on their computers, one of the highest rates in the world.
With no law banning file-sharing, Sweden had become a hotbed of piracy where films, music and software were readily swapped.
But experts believe the law will change little and that Swedes will remain rampant downloaders.
Pirate haven
Prior to the law coming into force, Sweden was the only European nation that let people download copyrighted material for personal use.
As a result many Swedes, thanks also to the available of cheap high-speed net access, were committed downloaders. It is estimated that about 900,000 Swedes regularly downloaded movies, games and music.
The forces that are fighting to keep this illegal behaviour are incredibly stron

Global raids target piracy gangs
The law was drawn up to bring Sweden into line with EU directives and is also part of a wider crackdown on net piracy.
It comes a day after the US Attorney General’s office announced an 11-nation operation to catch and shut down net piracy groups.
But, say experts, the habit of downloading is likely to be hard to break.
“There is nothing that indicates that (the pirates) would change their behaviour,” said Henrik Ponten, a spokesman for Antipiratbyran, a Swedish anti-piracy agency funded by film studios and game makers.
“A law in itself changes nothing,” he said.

The city’s latest dress designer
Naveeta D Singh and K A Dodhiya
Once again the metropolis has been saved from the clutches of indecency! Pack up that skirt, box that top and burn those capris because Mumbai University has decided that they won’t allow college students to wear anything that “exposes the body”.When we asked the Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, Vijay Khole, about what his new dress code for students would entail, this is what he said: “An attire should be such that it should not be offensive or cause of distraction to fellow students and lecturers.”His spokesman was more candid.“T-shirt and jeans can be worn. But they should protect the exposure of the body,” said Arun Sawant. What about a sleeveless salwar-kameez?“If it’s Indian, then it will do.”And a saree? “Of course.”Perhaps getting a vision of Sridevi in the rain in Mr India, he hastily added: “If a girl wears a saree and is found indecent by the teacher, she will be allowed to leave the class.”Allowed or asked? “We can only appeal to the students to follow the rules and not impose them,” said Amarjeet Manhas, a member of Mumbai University’s management council, which supports the VC’s view. “We second his (VC’s) opinion that there should be a dress code,” he added.
The craziest twist in the this tale of many turns is that all these proposals are in light of last month’s Marine Drive case when a drunken cop raped a teenager in the chowki.“Adorning such clothes invites anti-social elements,” Sawant said. So, if someone misbehaves with a girl in a tank top, it’s her fault. But if she was wearing a salwaar kameez at the time, the administration will kick into action and punish the perversion.A famous author wrote: “Do you have a lack of common sense or decency?” We wonder who to address that question to.
What will be allowed?
* Salwar Kameez — but no deep neck. Sleeveless will do
* T-shirts that do not have a deep neckline or expose the navel
* Jeans, but no low-waist
And What won’t be
* Short skirts
* Body-hugging tops
* Sleeveless tops
* Shorts
* Tank tops
