With Safari 4 released by apple many would like to try using this browser, likewise I too jumped into the fire and tried my hand at the new Safari 4.
The browser has a nice dose of the eye candy, the Cover Flow, the visual History pretty much the browser version iTunes.
Leaving the eye candy aside and talking about functionality one thing that hindered me from using the browser was the feature Sessions that we have in Opera and also chrome. In fact I was once a die-hard fan of Firefox but thanks to a buggy PC that crashed any time it wanted I kept loosing bookmarks and all the tabs that were open while browsing.
Opera pretty much saved me while that PC lasted, now Opera has pretty much become my default browser and no browser seems to take me away from it. Although Chrome a browser from Google though seems to have caught my fancy, the simple Ui and the “Most visited” feature is quite attractive.

Opera today released the final version of the long awaited browser, version 9.

After a plently of monthly, weekly and daily beta releases opera finally released the final version of the browser.
Opera 9 boasts some very interesting new features. The new features includes a Bittorrent client which can handle all your torrent downloads, a content blocker which helps you block certain images ads rather and save your precious bandwidth. Another useful feature added is a search engine utility through which you can add any search engine you use to the list already builtin the browser example if you most often use wikipedia you can very well add a link to its search engine in the drop down list that opera provides for the builtin search engines with a mere right click thus saving your time ,rather than going to wikipedias site you can straightaway select wikipedia from the drop down list punch in the keyword hit enter and voila you get your results. The Thumbnail preview feature is a feature in its own class ,hower your mouse pointer over any tab open and a thumbnail of that webpage the tab contains pops out, this surely help you when you have lots of tabs open and have to quickly find that webpage in between all those tabs. Some browser fans have even tried getting into the registry settings to increase the size of the thumbnail .To move on to the features another feature called the site preferences. Site Preferences helps you specify how a specific webpage should be handled by the browser i.e you can turn off or enable cookies for that specific sites turn off enable gif animations, customize the style of the webpage i.e turn off frames etc. enable disable java scripts .The new features include improved support for Rich Text Editors.

Merlin is the name of a small falcon, an Ancient, and as Olli mentioned, the code name of our next major release. Since we released Opera 8.5 today without banner ads, we thought we’d tell everyone some of the things they have to look forward to in the future from Opera. We’ve been working hard on the next major release for quite some time and we’re getting ever closer to releasing a preview.
Here at Opera, we like acronyms. In QA, we use acronyms and abbreviations every day. We have stuff called SPARTAN, OASIS, SNORRE, BTS, etc. In fact, we like acronyms so much, we’ve stuffed a bunch of them into Merlin. You might recognize a couple: XSLT 1.0, WF2, a new IMAP back-end, and some CSS3 Selectors. Of course, we can’t fill Opera with just acronymns, so we stuck in designMode (rich text editing). Oh, there’s more, but we can’t reveal all our secrets now.
Don’t worry, we also had to fix a bunch of bugs. So, we made OBJECTs and IFRAMEs respect z-index, improved our margin-collapsing code, fixed problems with width inheritance for positioned elements, and nearly completed support for Acid2. There’s way, way more to talk about, but that’ll come later.
Enjoy 8.5 and look forward to Merlin. It’s going to be great!
