Intel releases its new logo

Well got this news today Intel has released its new logo
frankly i dint like it much rather the older one looked good
they have dropped the “intel inside” slogan as you might be
knowing so now what well they have added a new slogan
the slogan is “Leap Ahead”
umm!! well again i dont think that looks good enough
i mean it should have been a bit you know in your face
like the one we had “intel inside” this “leap ahead” IMO
sounds not at all that good ,but anyways the company
must have surely done thier homework and put this up
anyways iam putting down the article from reuters

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Intel Corp. said on Thursday it will scrap its 37-year-old logo as part of a major rebranding that will emphasise the chipmaker’s shift away from its core PC business into consumer products.
The original Intel logo featuring a lowered “e” will be replaced with one showing an oval swirl surrounding the company’s name.
The phrase “Leap ahead” will supplant “Intel inside,” which helped bring the company into the public awareness during the PC boom of the 1990s.
Intel said Chief Executive Paul Otellini is set to unveil details of the campaign during next week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The Santa Clara, California-based company is rolling out the rebranding just weeks after it elevated Eric Kim to the role of Chief Marketing Officer.
Intel hired Kim away last year from Samsung Electronics, where he was credited with helping to forge a savvy consumer brand to take on industry stalwarts such as Japan’s Sony Corp.
“‘Intel. Leap ahead.’ is a simple expression that declares who we are and what we do. This is part of our heritage,” Kim said in a statement.
The new marketing effort will phase out Intel’s well-known Pentium brand and emphasise its Centrino line of laptop chips, upcoming PC and server processors, and a new effort called “Viiv” that aims to integrate PCs into home entertainment such as by recording TV shows and sending them to other devices.

Wordpress 2.0 is Released

Finally Wordpress released its brand new updated version of Wordpress.
As soon as i saw this news had to download it and upgrade my blog.
So uploaded the new version crossed my fingers so that everything
goes well.
The ftp client showed tranfer complete i hit Opera
hit refresh and…….
loading loading man i almost had my heart in my mouth
and bang i see my Blog but hey there were some Sql problems
under the posts
i said damn!!!
clicked at the Admin link and i went OMigawd!!! nothing
it showed but some line saying “you need to Upgrade”
i thought gone ma blog gone :’(
i clicked at the upgrade link as showed
it went to another link i clicked at it freakingly
and bang my new spanking new WP admin area
all unveiled to me
hehehhe i was all so happy
hit the view blog link above the wp admin area
and hey all those Sql errors too went away
so was all happy ive got an Wordpress 2.0 powered blog
So what are you all waiting for upgrade yours now.

Yahoo Widget Engine 3.0.1

Earlier known as Konfabulator and now Yahoo Widget Engine.Yahoo has updated the Widget Engine and have released the newer engine.
The version is 3.0.1 ,the changelog is as below.
General Engine Changes
* Improved upgrade path from pre-3.0 installs. We now migrate preferences for Stock Ticker, The Weather, and PIM Overview correctly to Yahoo! Stock Ticker, Yahoo! Weather, and Day Planner. We also now adjust the user’s loaded and recent Widgets lists so that the Widgets launch as expected after the upgrade completes.
* Fixed crash when unescaping a string with bogus escape codes in it.
* Fixed problem in animations that could lead to a crash if a function object went out of scope.
* Fixed Traditional Chinese string file. Was leading to a crash on startup.
Windows Fixes
* Fixed problem where tick mark labels were not displaying in preferences.
* Fixed problem where setting a windows visibility to true when already visible was forcing the window to the front.
* We now move any older Widgets (during upgrades) into a folder inside the My Widgets folder.
* We properly remove the older Konfabulator shortcut in the startup items folder.
* Added uninstall shortcut to the program group in the Start menu.
* Fixed problem where onMouseWheel actions weren’t being sent to frames without scrollbars.
* Fixed issue where prefs weren’t always written.
* Fixed problem fetch icon images.
* No longer allow the debug window to get too small (which was previous causing some serious ugliness).
Widget Fixes
* Day Planner: Fixed problems with all day events in Outlook.
* Day Planner: Fixed problem where events weren’t showing from Yahoo! Calendar
* Day Planner: Fixed problem where it wasn’t removing views and therefore growing in size (resource-wise).
* Picture Frame: Changed animation of controls to be asynchronous.
* Maps: Reversed direction of the disclosure arrows.
* Maps: Made drawer opening chained to the main scroll opening so that it is perceivably smoother.

Yahoo Adds Messenger Avatars in Yahoo Mail

Just been reported at Neowin,Yahoo has added the Yahoo Messenger Avatars to its Yahoo Mail service.
You get these avatars that you have made in your Yahoo Messenger on the main page of yahoo mail after you sign in to your yahoo mail.
If you dont know anything about this avatar well you get a animated human figure whom you could dress up change its face etc
i.e make him look like you.
Well not exactly a big advantage or rather i dont see any but just makes your email that bit personalised.
